Preserving Textile Workers’ Life Stories for Future Generations
We want to hear your stories
Did you work in the East Midlands textile industry during 1980 – 2005?
Share your stories with the Textile Tales project team
Welcome to Textile Tales
We want to hear from everyone, from dyers, machine operators, workers and management, from the boardroom to the shop floor. In the 1980s, workers protested to save the industry and these stories deserve to be shared. If you have a story to share with us please use the Contact Us button below.
We have carried out 8 roadshow events in the East Midlands and now we are collating this information and will publish stories in 2020 for all to see and share.
Sponsored by the National Lottery Heritage Fund and the Worshipful Company of Framework Knitters and supported by partnership museums, universities, businesses and East Midlands History and Heritage.
We’ve had over 150 visitors to our events so far, and have recorded over 50 oral histories as well as seeing photos and items that have been brought along.
With thanks to our Project Sponsors and Partners
